Anniversary

Jared and I planned to celebrate our anniversary down in Las Vegas. It turned out that we weren't able to book our hotel until the middle of August so I figured we would just celebrate our special day late. Well Jared had other plans. He surprised me and booked a night up in Park City. I forgot how gorgeous that place is. We left Provo after church on Sunday and made our way up to Park City so we could spend the afternoon and evening up there. Here is our anniversary in pictures:

The trip started off with me waking up to some gorgeous roses and peanut M&M's.
Our hotel had an awesome jet tub...Mama Tate you would have LOVED it..

We walked up main street and got us some yummy pizza
On the day of our actual anniversary we went on the alpine slide...so fun! I beat Jared down the slide and he also ran over a rat while on the slide.
And throughout the weekend we took awesome pictures of ourselves...
I can't believe it's already been one year that I've been married to this stud muffin....
He's the best thing that has ever happened to me. He's so hot. And I'm still going to think so even when we're old and wrinkly....here's to one year down and an eternity left to go!

Mexico

About a month ago, Jared and I went to Rocky Point with his whole family. Talk about a blast...Lots of lounging in my swim suit, swimming, beach, banana boat, wave runners, and shopping downtown.

The boys had an obsession with mustaches so Daddy Tate got us all some. It's crazy how real Dallas's looks. It was such a fun trip and a much needed vacation. I'm already excited for next year!

Today I Learned...

I read my friend, Carlie's blog the other day and she did a post about the things she learned one day. I was really inspired by it so I'm copying it. Copying is a sign of admiration...take it as a compliment Carlie.

Today I learned...
  • That I really hate the song "Skyscraper" by Demi Lovato and I am so sick of hearing "Call me Maybe" on the radio, Pandora, and in my head.
  • Use sunscreen on your face. Otherwise your nose, forehead, and cheeks will peel for literally a week straight from a bad sunburn in Mexico.
  • After doing 60 buildings in AutoCad in one day at work, I never want to look at another map again.
  • A lot of people have a different work ethic than I do. I'm not saying mine is worse or any better...just different.
  • It is completely possible to be genuinely giddy and happy because of someone else's happiness.
  • There is a reason I procrastinated taking my American Heritage class for 4 years...It is horrifically boring. I couldn't get past the second page of the book.
  • The only people I text or receive texts from are my co-workers, family, or primary presidency...I'm cool.
  • Love is the center of everything. There is no point to life if you can't love

The Joys of Sunbeams

As many of you know I got called to be the new primary president in my ward about a month ago. It has been a very stressful, challenging, exhausting, but totally rewarding experience. I have learned so much the past few weeks. I feel like each Sunday in Primary, it gets better and better. The first Sunday the kids were EXTREMELY rowdy. So, the second week we taught them about reverence and I began to pick up on the little quirks that some of the kids have...some of them being good quirks and some of them not so good. So the third week, being this past Sunday, went really well. They were much quieter but those little quirks shined through even more. Just to give a little example...our sweet sunbeams who I have come to love because I was their teacher, try so hard to be reverent. Some of them do a great job and others, not so much. One girl in particular who is probably the cutest of the bunch just has a hard time sitting still, staying quiet, or in fact just staying in her chair. She loves to get up and stand by the teacher, loves to sit on the ground, loves to lay on the ground, loves to talk. She will be anything but reverent. Every week I have stuck to my guns and have always made her go back to her chair. As the weeks go on, it is less frequent that she gets out of her chair. However, yesterday she was doing the same thing. She kept looking at me every time she started to slide out of her chair just to see what I would do. My counselors and I did what we always do and told her to sit back down. This apparently hurt her feelings and she wanted us to know it. That little girl's parents better watch out. She's good. The poor girl made herself cry. No, not because she was actually really sad. But she stared at the ceiling light for minutes on end, tried not to blink until she got one solitary tear that started to drop down her face. As soon as that tear fell, she looked directly at my counselors and I to try and show us how much we hurt her feelings. I couldn't help it anymore and busted up laughing. Who knew 3 year old's could be so dang smart. I am really learning to love my calling and I'm starting to realize that it is all about loving the kids. And I have to admit that I am somewhat grateful for the little rowdy kids. Primary would be extremely boring if every child was completely reverent.

Tate Family Update

Well at least I'm consistent with how often I update this blog...looks like I'm on a record of once a month. Awesome. Well very exciting things have been happening around the Tate house...most important thing first:
We invested in 5 boxes of girl scout cookies. Best investment I've ever made. I'm surprised they lasted us a whole week.
I was once again reassured that thin mints are still by far the best.

Jared ran in the Rex Lee 10K race. It was his first race and he did pretty darn good. He finished in about 52 minutes.
This was him before the race. He was pretty excited about wearing his number. And this was him after the race...
Slight exaggeration? I think yes.
We were also able to babysit our stinkin cute nephew, Matix, a few weeks ago. That kid is a stud-muffin even though he puked all over our couch. However, in his defense his parents did warn us about his spit up. We still love him anyway.
We have been obsessed with this show:

Most nights consist of us watching a couple episodes. I'm just excited because it's the first tv serious Jared has gotten hooked on. My attempt at Grey's Anatomy and Gossip Girl just didn't interest him very much. Don't ask me why.

College basketball is over and as much as I absolutely love having ESPN on my TV 24-7 for an entire month I'm happy to have my husband back.

And last but not least I turned the big 22 this past week and Jared sure did spoil me. He woke up early in the morning to make me breakfast. I would like to note that Jared was pretty proud of himself for waking up in the 5:00 hour...it was 5:55 but still 5:00 hour none-the-less...gotta give him props on that. He wrote me lots of love notes and stuck them by our table for me to read while eating my omelet and grapefruit. Then we both had to work all day...not so fun. But then we decided to drive up to Sandy to go to Sweet Tomatoes..my favorite place to eat. We had a lovely gentleman there that taught us the secret to success...well rather he taught Jared. "A man can never be happy and right at the same time." What a wise man. We then visited my grandpa who is the cutest old man I know. We came home and Jared had gotten me a very sweet card and very nice perfume which I love.
